Guitar Bodies, Tops, and Exotic Woods
This collection features both top-grade guitar tops and bodies as well as beautiful seconds suitable for building amazing, unique instruments. Please pay special attention to the descriptions, which will note clearly whether the piece you are viewing is graded as top-grade or second.
What does ‘second’ mean? It means that this set has issues such as small defect, which renders it “not perfect” for top-grade. Items in this classification will still make stunning guitars with careful pattern placement. Many custom builders prefer sets with unique characteristics for a truly one-of-a-kind instrument.
Throughout the product descriptions, wood grade will be frequently noted. Below is an explanation:
3A refers to light figure. A 3A piece may have small “dead spots” where the figure is not present at all or is so light that it will only be seen once the piece is finished.
4A refers to nice figure, which covers the entire pattern area, but lacks iridescence, or “pop”.
5A refers to strong figure and “iridescence”, which means white, contrasting lines.
The “exotics” in this collection are a mix of products which we do not normally carry. These are African, Asian, and South American woods.
